Milos Island National Airport- MLO
Operated by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, Milos Island National Airport is a public-use airport located on the island of Milos, Greece. The airport’s IATA location identifier is MLO, and its ICAO airport code is LGML. Milos Island National Airport has been handling around 30,000 to 50,000 passengers from 2006 to 2017. However, in 2018, the passenger count skyrocketed to over 77,000 and almost doubled the flights.
Best Time to Visit
The airport resides at an altitude of three meters above the mean sea level. There is a single runway in the airfield, which is asphalt-paved and runs to a length of a little over a thousand meters. This short runway can only accommodate small aircraft, such as ATR 42 and Dash 8. Milos Island National Airport also features a tiny apron covering an area of 7,800 square meters, which can only handle two light aircraft simultaneously. Although there are plans on renovating the airport to extend both the runway and the apron, these were all suspended due to economic concerns. Currently, only two airlines, Olympic Air and Sky Express, offer scheduled flights to Athens. Astra Airlines, on the other hand, provide seasonal flights to Thessaloniki. Visit the towns of Kimolos and Psathi while you’re in the area.
