Naypyidaw: Exploring the Capital of Myanmar
Naypyidaw, Myanmar is a city located at the heart of the Naypyidaw Union Territory and serves as the capital city of the country. It was not until 2006 when the city became the administrative capital, officially replacing Yangon. Being the seat of power in the country, Naypyidaw hosts the Supreme Court, the Union Parliament, and the Presidential Palace. The headquarters of the government military and ministries are also located within the town. Coincidentally, the city’s name can be generally translated as “seat of the king” or “royal capital.” Naypyidaw’s location makes it an ideal spot for hotels and accommodations, as well. Best Time to Visit
The city of Naypyidaw is one of the locations of the Myanmar Music Festival, which celebrates the country’s music through traditional and western instruments. The celebration, which has been commissioned in 2014, typically takes place months between May and June and visits several major cities in the country, including Mandalay, Yangon, Sittwe, and Myitkyina. During this time, the summer season begins in the country, attracting several thousand tourists to the area. That said, a majority of Naypyidaw, Myanmar hotels are packed and expensive come June. Meanwhile, visiting the city in the fall will reward you with cheaper hotels and transportation.
