Ngemplak: Rustic Charms of A Rural Land
Ngemplak, Indonesia is a small and rural area that is part of the Sleman Regency in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. It is bordered by Central Java to the north and east, Kulon Progo, Bantul, and Yogyakarta to the south. Idyllic in character, Ngemplak is primarily an agricultural territory. Less than 20 minutes by car is the Adisutjipto International Airport (JOG), the main airport serving the Yogyakarta area on the island of Java.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to go to Ngemplak would be during the dry season that generally takes place from April to October. This means that you can enjoy the great outdoors since the rains have not come yet. Since Ngemplak has not been touched by tourism yet, there really are no peak seasons. But Yogyakarta, its nearest big city neighbor which is less than an hour away hosts the Yogyakarta Art Festival from end of July to mid-August.
What to Do & Area Attractions
An interesting place to visit while in town is the Batik Museum, a private endeavor which conserves batik as culture heritage.
