Nisswa, A City of Recreation, Fun, and Beauty
With only about two thousand residents, Nisswa is a city located in Crow Wing County and considered as a part of the Micropolitan Statistical Area of Brainerd. The town was first called Smiley but was later renamed to its current name. Nisswa came from an Ojibwe term, “nessawae”, which translates to “in the middle”. You can reach the city via plane and arrive at Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport or St. Cloud Regional Airport, both of which are about an hour away from Nisswa, Minnesota. August accommodates the most number of tourists in Nisswa, MN, mainly because of the Nisswa Viking Festival that was first celebrated in 2019.
