Serving Porto, Portugal, the Dr. Francisco de Sa Carneiro Airport was formerly known as the Pedras Rubras Airport. It is considered as the 2nd busiest passenger airport in the country and known under the OPO code. It currently serves as the focus city of easyJet, Transavia France, and Ryanair. It’s also the hub for TAP Air Portugal. As of 2017, the airport managed to serve a total of ten million passengers.

Opened in 1945, the Dr. Francisco de Sa Carneiro Airport’s original name literally translates to “red rocks” before being renamed in 1990 in honor of Francisco de Sa Carneiro, the former prime minister. Boasting some of the best facilities in Europe, the Airports Council International Airport Service Quality Awards voted it as the Best Airport in Europe for the year 2007. It consistently held one of the top three positions for several years starting 2008. Close municipalities include the Sao Felix Da Marinha and the Capelo. You can also visit Fajozes, which is a civil parish in Vila do Conde.
