Yangon International Airport – RGN Yangon
Yangon International Airport is Myanmar’s main airport and also the busiest, was built in 1947 after the World War II. It is located 10 miles of central Yangon’s northern part. All of ten Myanmar carriers and 30 international airlines operate in this airport. Yangon International Airport is owned by the Myanmar Government and operated by Yangon Aerodrome Company Limited.
Best Time to Visit
The Yangon International Airport has three passenger terminals. Terminal 1 handles the international flights, Terminal 2 is now undergoing renovation and has been closed since 2018, and Terminal 3 is now handling domestic flights. It replaced the demolished old terminal in 2014. There are quite a number of self-service cafes in some parts of RGN Yangon, the international departure VIP lounges also offers additional dining experience. Shops selling handicrafts and local souvenirs are also available together with duty-free outlets in both the departure and arrive halls. You can tour around Yangon without going too far from the airport.

If you are travelling with the family, the Myanmar Life Hotel is a family friendly accommodation and is only few minutes away from Yangon International Airport. The Galaxy Hotel is also an excellent choice of place to stay. It is only a kilometer away from the airport. It is also a few minute-drive to the Sule Pagoda and the Yangon Institute of Economics. Another RGN Yangon hotel that is close to the airport and other tourist spots in Yangon is the Mango Hill Inn. It serves a continental breakfast daily and also offers a paid shuttle service to the airport.
