Reykjavík Airport - RKV Iceland
Reykjavík Domestic Airport is the main airport for domestic flights to and from Iceland capital city Reykjavík. Though considered a domestic airport, RKV Airport also serves international flights to Greenland and private charter flights to other international destinations. Located in Vatnsmyri near the center of Reyjavik, Iceland, RKV Airport also serves as an alternate entryway to flights that are supposed to enter Iceland but could not due to adverse weather conditions. The airport serves 12 domestic destinations and 6 international destinations over three airlines. Constructed and operated by the British Army in the 1940s, RKV Airport was handed over to the government of Iceland on July 6, 1946.
