San Candido: A Holiday Destination that Captures the Heart
San Candido is a village in the northern part of Italy, bordering Austria. Also called Innichen, it is part of the Tre Cime Natural Park in the Dolomites and is a popular winter and summer tourist resort. San Candido is a haven for almost everyone with its beautiful and idyllic atmosphere as well as for its diverse fun activities.
Best Time to Visit
Any time is a good time to visit San Candido but if you really want to enjoy its perfect weather, then June to September would be the best time to check out its many attractions. Summer, especially in August, is peak season in San Candido which means it can be overcrowded and San Candido, ITL hotels are fully booked. September, however, is a shoulder month so there are no crowds making it the best time to visit for some relaxation and finding peace. It’s also a great time to check out the Heugabel market featuring products by local artisans and farmers.
What to Do & Area Attractions
San Candido is home to the Innichen Abbey, founded in the late 8th century and one of the most visited places in town. You can also drop by DoloMythos, a natural history museum with an extraordinary exhibit including fossils and precious stones. And of course, the Alp’s most exhilarating experience takes place at 3 Zinnen Dolomites, a multi-award-winning for skiing in winter and hiking in summer. Stay at any of these fine accommodations while on your vacation: the Parkhotel Sole Paradiso, which is surrounded by lush green forest, the Post Alpina-Family Mountain Chalets, which has both outdoor and indoor pools, and the stunning Boutique & Gourmet Hotel Orso Grigio, which is a family-run hotel, and has an onsite restaurant.
