Sevrier: An Underrated French Suburb
Sevrier, France is a commune that is essentially a suburb in Annecy. It houses some prehistoric pile dwelling settlements. These are part of the Prehistoric Pile Dwellings Around the Alps UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The perfect time to visit Sevrier is during the months of May through October, for the best weather. Peak tourist season is usually during the months of June through August. Tourists are least likely to visit in November. One of the most anticipated events in the area is Annecy International Animation Film Festival (AIAFF), which is held annually in early June. Since its establishment in 1960, it was held biennially. It became an annual event 38 years later. Mainly, it is a competition of cartoon films of different techniques in different categories - advertising and/or TV films, feature films, internet films, short films, and student films.
What to Do & Area Attractions
When in the area, tourists should visit Chateau d’Annecy, a restored castle that is now a museum. It is an official monument historique of the French Ministry of Culture since 1959. Another interesting site to visit is Lake Annecy, the country’s third biggest lake. It is also known as the cleanest lake in Europe, thanks to the strict environmental regulations implemented since the 1960s. Visitors may enjoy swimming and other water sports activities.
