Shimonoseki: Home to Succulent Seafood
Yamaguchi Prefecture’s largest city is Shimonoseki, Japan. It is fondly called the “Fugu Capital” by the locals as it holds the most number of blowfish collected every year. Before the early 1900s, Shimonoseki was also known by the names Bakan or Akamagaseki. The city is a prime trading port for the United Kingdom and the United States and has a ferry terminal with boats to and from Busan, South Korea.
