Sofia International Airport - SOF Sofia, Bulgaria
The Sofia International Airport serves as the main gateway to Bulgaria. The national airport brings guests straight to Sofia, Bulgaria and its airport code, SOF, is named after this capital. It is the home base of several local carriers, such as Bulgarian Air Charter, Bulgaria Air, and BH Air. Smaller carriers like Wizz Air and Ryan Air also operate from this massive complex. The airport was commissioned by the former Tsar Boris III in as early as 1937.

The SOF-Sofia International Airport is also the home of the Bulgarian Air Force’s Vrazhdebna Airbase. In 2018, the airport has served 6.9 million passengers within a year. It features 2 terminals, and features de-icing platforms to receive passengers even in the height of winter. From the Sofia International Airport, travelers can easily reach the popular tourist destinations of Pancharevo, Krivina, and Shiroki Dol. The airport features its own metro station, the Sofia Airport Metro Station, which can be found in Terminal 2, and can be reached from Terminal 1 via a free shuttle service.

While massive in scope, the Sofia International Airport (SOF) has yet to feature an in-terminal hotel. However, there are plenty of nearby hotels that offer free airport shuttle services. Near the airport are the comfortable accommodations offered by Ibis Sofia Airport and the Best Western Premier Sofia Airport Hotel, which are both a kilometer away from the airport. The Montecito Hotel is also a few minutes drive from the Sofia International Airport.
