The Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport, also known as Tacloban City Airport, is the airport used as the main gateway to Manila and Cebu. It is situated in the highly urbanized city in Leyte Island and serves Tacloban City, Philippines and the surrounding towns in the Visayas Region. The Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport, whose airport code is TAC, was called San Jose Airstrip during 2nd World War. US troops have based in this airstrip during that time such as the US Air Force and US Navy. In 2017, Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport was ranked Philippines’ eighth-busiest and third-fastest growing airport by passenger volume.

TAC-Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport was converted for commercial aviation after 2nd World War. Since then, it was called Tacloban National Airport. Then the airport was renamed after Daniel Z. Romualdez, a politician and uncle of former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos who served as Speaker of the House from 1957 to 1962. In 2013, the airport was devastated by Typhoon Haiyan and rendered unusable after the typhoon. But just after one week it was reopened and has resumed its operation since then.
