Ben Gurion Airport - TLV
Ben Gurion Airport, also known by its Hebrew name ‘Natbag’, is the main international airport of Israel. It is located in Central District, Israel and serves the city of Lod and its neighboring areas including Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area. It was named after the country’s first Prime Minister, David Ben-Gurion. Ben Gurion Airport serves as the hub for several airlines including El Al, Israir Airlines, Arkia, and Sun D’Or. The Israel Airports Authority operates this public airport. In 2018, approximately 23 million passengers passed through its terminals. It has been constantly rated as one of the best airports in the Middle East, based on user experience.
Best Time to Visit
The Ben Gurion Airport started out as an airstrip with four runways in the 1930s. Then, it was known as Wihelma Airport. The airport’s name was changed in 1973 to honor the Prime Minister who died that year. Additional buildings and runways were added in the 1980s and the 1990s. A new terminal was dedicated in 2004. Some of the airlines that are served by Ben Gurion Airport include Air India, Aegean Airlines, Delta Airlines, EasyJet, Cathay Pacific, and Cyprus Airways. It also serves as an important cargo hub and accepts and handles cargo from FedEx Express, Korean Air Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo, and several more.

Ramon Airport, an international airport near the city of Eilat serves as the diversion airport for Ben Gurion Airport. Another alternate airport is the Sde Dov Airport, located 15 miles away in Tel Aviv.
