Dong Hoi Airport – VDH Dong Hoi
Dong Hoi Airport (VDH) is located 3.7 miles from Dong Hoi, Vietnam nestled in the Loc Ninh commune in Quảng Bình Province. This airport facility is situated by the sandy area in the South China Sea and is operated by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, which falls under the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam. French colonists to support the First Indochina War and the Vietnam War constructed VDH’s airstrip during the 1930s.

Renovation of the airport began in 2004 and was only completed in 2008. After completion, VDH-Vinh opened its first commercial air service from Hanoi. In 2015, VDH became one out of four commercial airports operating in the North Central Coast of the country. In 2018, Vinh Airport attended to a total of 700,000 passengers flying in and out of the city.
This airport has plans of extending the runway so that it can serve bigger aircraft to be able to serve domestic and international terminals. The renovation is designed to accommodate 10 million passengers, construct a parallel taxiway, and two separate terminals. The expansion and improvements are to be completed in 2020. VDH mainly serves Vinh as well as its neighboring communities Dong Hoi and Phong Nha.
