The Wortham Center in Houston, Texas is a performing arts center and home to Houston Ballet and Houston Grand Opera. It was built with the funding coming from the private sector, with more than 3,500 donors contributing $66 million. The building is named after Gus S. Wortham, the founder of American General Insurance Company and the largest contributor to the campaign through the Cullen Foundation and Brown Foundation. There are two theaters in the Wortham Center. The 2,423-seater Alice and George Brown Theater and the 1,100-seater Cullen Theater.
