Antwerp International Airport – ANR Antwerp
Antwerp International Airport is a small airport located south of the city of Antwerp, Belgium, the city it also serves. In 1921, the work of a proper airport was started after the first flying events at the Wilrijkse Plein. Since then, the airport became a home to several aircraft factories before and during the war. In 2014, VLM Airlines resided in the airport after it parted ways with CityJet flying from Antwerp to Hamburg and Friedrichshafen, but it was not long after the Airline declared bankruptcy. Starting September of 2019, a new airline, Air Antwerp, started and announced daily services to London City.
Best Time to Visit
Being a small airport, Antwerp International Airport only has one small passenger terminal with basic facilities like a service desk and a restaurant. The airport has a short runway with length of 1,500 feet and can operate smaller planes not larger than Boeing 737. The Flemish Government’s Department of Mobility and Public Works is the main operator of the airport since 2014 and it continues for a period of 25 years. The airport also has a flying school, aircraft maintenance and repair workshops, hangars of private aircrafts, business jet operators and the Museum Stampe-Vertongen. On 2017, it has already served almost 280,000 passengers.
