Bechyal Cultural Center, Yap, Federated States of Micronesia
Although Yap, Federal States of Micronesia is not a major city nor tourist destination, it boasts of being the home of Bechyal Cultural Center. This sits across the Yap Living Museum Canoe House. The cultural center is basically a handful of “Faluw,” a traditional house with a huge thatched roof. The houses are founded on big rock boulders, as well. When visiting the cultural center, you might be able to see the locals building a particular canoe.
While visiting the town of Yap, feel free to add a nice side trip to the neighboring city of Colonia. This also sits near the coast and will give visitors a refreshing view of the seascape.
