Hamburg Airport – HAM Hamburg
The Hamburg Airport is known as the fifth-busiest commercial airport of Germany. It is a major public airport that is located in Flughafenstr. 1-3, 22335 Hamburg, Germany and serves the Hamburg area Fuhlsbüttel quarter and serves as a hub for Eurowings and focus cities for TUI fly Deutschland, Ryanair, and Condor. Its airport code, HAM, stands for its city name Hamburg. The airport was opened in 1911 that makes it the oldest airport still in operation. Beginning in 1945, it got its present name. In the early 1990, the airport started to have an extensive modernization process. As of 2018, the airport has handled 156,388 aircraft movements and 17,231,687 passengers.
Best Time to Visit
The HAM-Hamburg Airport has two terminals, Terminal 1 and 2. These two terminals are connected by Airport Plaza, which hosts central security check, restaurants, shops, lounges, and other service facilities. Terminal 1 and 2 have a high, curved ceiling to emulate the shape of the wing. Some of the best cities to go from Hamburg Airport include Bergedorf, Karolinenviertel, and Kirchwerder.
