Serving 8.5 million passengers annually, Indianapolis International Airport is an international airport located a few miles away from downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. When it opened in 1931, it was first known as Indianapolis Municipal Airport and later became Weir Cook Municipal Airport. In 1976, it was renamed Indianapolis International Airport. Year after year, it has consistently been recognizes as Best Airport in North America by Airports Council International and Best Airport in America by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine.

The main passenger terminal at the IND-Indianapolis International Airportis called Colonel Harvey Weir Cook Terminal and has two concourses and operates 44 domestic gates and 2 international gates (which also serves as domestic gates when needed). An average of 145 daily departures keep the airport busy with connections to 50 nonstop domestic and international destinations. The busiest inbound routes are Atlanta, Georgia; Chicago, Illinois; Denver, Colorado and Orlando, Florida to name a few. The airport has two parallel runways and a third one is in the offing. Franklin and Claremont are 2 of the many nearby cities.
