Sea Turtle Rescue Center is part of Sea Turtle Inc., which is a non-profit organization in South Padre Island, Texas that aims to save and protect Kemp’s ridley sea turtle – the rarest species of sea turtle that is highly endangered. The center is where the rescued turtles are housed and visitors get to see them up-close. But the property is not just about exhibiting the marine animals, it also engages with thousands of tourists and students each year to educate them about these endangered turtles and their habitat. Plus, the institution also rehabilitates the sea creatures and releases them later on.
Sea Turtle Rescue Center doesn’t just support the conservation of Kemp’s ridley sea turtle, but as well as the other sea turtle species like Hawksbill and Leatherback. A short drive from the center is the Andy Bowie Park, which is a spacious site for picnicking, fishing, swimming, and other beach activities. Also, within South Padre Island is a myriad of hotels. The hotel has 4-star resort amenities like an outdoor pool, poolside bar, coffee shop, restaurant, and more. To the southwest of South Padre Island are the cities of Port Isabel and Los Fresnos that also offer places of interest. The Long Island Village Golf Course in the former city is an 18-hole par-3 course, while the Little Graceland in the latter is a museum that showcases Elvis Presley’s memorabilia.
