Benitses: A Seaside Village Like No Other
One of the original holiday resorts in Greece is the village of Benitses, Greece. It is acknowledged as the place where tourism in Corfu started. In the past, the village played host to a notorious nightlife but today, the village enjoys an idyllic atmosphere that gets lively during holiday season. Benitses is an old traditional which takes much pride of its traditions.
Best Time to Visit
May to August is when Benitses gets busy with the arrival of holiday revelers. Although Benitses hotel rates are at their most premium, many still troop to the resorts for some much-needed R&R under the sun. It is therefore advisable to book your rooms ahead of your visit to get good deals. July becomes even more bustling in town when it celebrates the Feast of St. Marina.
What to Do & Area Attractions
As a beach town, one of the most visited resorts in the area is Acharavi Beach with stretches of golden sand, shallow crystalline waters and lush greenery. The Palaiopolis Museum Mon Repos is also worth a visit for its exhibits on ancient artifacts found in Palaiopolis so is the Paleokastritsa Monastery, a historic Byzantine monastery with scenic sea views & a museum showcasing religious objects. Some of the fine hotels in the area include the Bella Vista Beach Hotel and Studios, a lovely place that’s only 30 meters from the beach, the Benitses Arches which is a basic hotel with a colorful facade that’s right down the beach and the Galini Studios with its superb beachfront location complete with large balconies offering sea or garden views.
