Sidari, Greece is a settlement in Corfu, an island in the Ionian Sea. It is the second biggest Ionian Island. It has a rich Greek history, dating back to the period of Greek mythology.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Sidari is during the months of March through June and September through December, for the perfect weather. The busiest months are usually May, June, and August. Tourists are least likely to visit in November. One of the most popular events in the area is Orthodox Easter, which is held every Easter. Since 1964, Catholics and orthodox have been celebrating together through a massive festival. It features banquets, dances, music, and other religious celebrations.
What to Do & Area Attractions
When in the area, tourists should visit the Archaeological Museum of Corfu, which was completed in 1965. Originally, it was intended to house the finds from the Temple of Artemis in Corfu. Today, the main exhibits include cenotaph of Menecrates, Gorgon pediment, Lion of Menecrates, marble torso of Apollo, pediment of Dionysus, among others. Another interesting site to visit is Palace of St. Michael and St. George or Royal Palace or City Palace in Corfu City, which was completed in the early 19th century. Initially, it served home to the British Lord High Commissioner of the Ionian Islands. It has a Greek Revival style in neoclassical design. You can visit the Sidari Beach and get a tan.
