Murcia San Javier Airport –MJV Murcia
Murcia San Javier Airport with code MJV is located in Murcia, Spain. It is actually in the town of San Javier which is 42 km from the city center of Murcia. The airport is owned by Spanish Airport. It was once a military-based and civilian passenger airport. In January 2019, the Region De Murcia International Airport was opened replacing this air facility. The runway of the airport can handle big aircraft like Boeing 757. The military airbase was created in 1930 and it is found in the northern area of the airport. The airbase was used by the air force for training and practice.
Best Time to Visit
From 2004 to 2011, the runway and terminal were renovated. However, in 2012, there is an official agreement by the government to close down the airport from civilian traffic. Before the closing down of the airport, it has seen busier days due to the low-cost airlines. In 2012, passengers served by the airport reached to 1 million. The airport is also nearby the cities of Bullas, Atamaria and Cabezo De Torres.
