Portorož Airport - POW
Established in 1962, Portorož Airport is the third international airport in Slovenia and the smallest of the trio. Located 3.7 miles south of the seaside tourist town of Portorož, Slovenia, it is less than a mile from the Croatian border. Blessed with a fantastic location, Portorož Airport serves a number of tourist towns and cities, including Piran and Koper in Slovenia, Umag in Croatia, and Trieste in Italy, among others. The airport is operated by Aerodrom Portorož.

At just 7 feet above mean sea level, Portorož Airport (POW) has an asphalt runway measuring 3,939 feet in length. It is capable of handling all kinds of aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of 25 tons. While the airport is relatively small compared to the other international airports of the country, it has plenty of facilities within its grounds, including all modern airport facilities, charter flights, a flight school, parachute jumping, a restaurant, and more. The head office of Slovenian airline Solinair is also located in Portorož Airport. Some of the nearby cities include, Buici, Porec, Katun, Kukci and Kadumi.

Since it’s a tourist town, Portorož provides plenty of potential accommodations for travelers. Near the airport, there are several good Portorož hotels, including Apartmaji Cipresa, which is practically just across the road. Luxury hotel Kempinski Palace Portoroz and the Boutique Hotel Portorose are also good choices that are a quick drive away.
Portorož Airport may serve surrounding towns, but there are a few alternate airports, including international airports Pula Airport in Pula, Croatia and Trieste - Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport in Trieste, Italy.
