Shirahama: Japan’s home to Onsen Resorts
A resort town found in Japan, Shirahama, lies at the south coast of Wakayama Prefecture. It is known for its Japanese hot spring resort, also known as an onsen resort. Shirahama translates to “white beach” in Japanese, which refers to the 500-meter long crescent-shaped white beach outside the resort. Most of its beaches are beautifully white-sand with clear blue waters, and no waves. Hence, Shirahama is also called the Waikiki of Japan - it became a popular spot for honeymooners because of this. SHM-Nanki-Shiraham Airport is the closest major airport to Shirahama.
Best Time to Visit
It gets absolutely packed with local families, students and tourists from mid-July to August, when people will have a pleasant temperature and limited rainfall. While outside the summer season it's really quiet. The highest average temperature in Shirahama is 25°C in August and the lowest is 6°C in January.

Shirahama is a prefecture in Japan that famous for its hot springs – however, there’s more than what meets the eye in the area. One can visit Sandanbeki, which is a cliff that goes down straight to the sea. A wide network of caves can be found within the cliff that can be accessible through an elevator. Just a 30 minute walk from Kii Tonda Station is the Adventure World, this is a big entertainment complex featuring an aquarium, an amusement park and a zoo. And after a great day from the park tourists may visit Yukai Resort Nanki Shirahamaonsen Shirahama Saichoraku, which is only 1.37 miles away.
