Taiping, Malaysia was a former mining town before it became known as a travel destination for its green pastures and rich history. It is located in Perak, Malaysia and is a few hour drive from Penang and its airport, the Penang International Airport. Taiping is hailed by the locals as the “City of Peace” and “Rain City.”

Called the Rain City for a reason, Taiping, Malaysia receives the most number of rainfall in the entire country. With both the dry and wet season, it is best to plan a trip to Taiping during summer of months March until May when there is little to no rain but with the temperature humid. Or during months of December to February when it is relatively cool with light rainshowers, and the locals are celebrating Malaysia Mountain Trail Festival.

The Taiping Lake Gardens is definitely a must-visit wherein you can admire the gigantic and old rain trees.
