Categorized as a general aviation facility, the TPL-Draughon–Miller Central Texas Regional Airport is located just 6miles northwest of Temple, Texas. Its birth dates back to1942 when the US Army Air Forces got hold of pasture land and built the Temple Army Air Field which became a sub-base of the Waco Army Airfield, and the airfield used for the Army Air Forces’ basic flying school. By the end of the WWII, it was handed over to the city and the airport was renamed in honor of the death of 2 Temple fliers in the war.

TPL Airport occupies 922 acres. It has two well-kept asphalt runways and taxiways. It has a parking apron and a control tower. The airport is known as a safe and efficient aviation facility that adequately meets the transportation demands of the region. At present, it does not provide any scheduled airline passenger service but only general aviation services. In 2016, 85% was allocated to such services while 15% was for military purposes. The airport also serves the nearby cities of Buda, Pflugerville and Leander.
