Victoria International Airport - YYJ
Victoria International Airport is located 12 miles from Victoria, British Columbia in Canada. The bulk of the airport is located in North Saanich in the Saanich Peninsula. A small portion of the airport’s airfield extends into Sidney. It is operated by the Victoria Airport Authority and is owned by Transport Canada. There are numerous flights to the Vancouver International Airport, which serves more global routes. This international airport also offers seasonal flights to resort towns in Mexico. Aside from Victoria, the Victoria International Airport also serves the cities Burnaby, Langley, Richmond and more.
Best Time to Visit
The airport began operating in 1939 when it was just a grass strip and used as a military airfield. It used to operate under the name Patricia Bay Heliport. It was renamed to the Victoria International Airport in 1959. The Victoria Airport Authority took control of the operations in the airport in 1997. Renovations began in 2000. The main terminal has nine gates, which have aircraft loading bridges. Wi-Fi Internet service is available throughout the terminal. It is provided by Telus. Some of the airline that serves Victoria International Airport includes Air Canada Rouge, Sunwing Airlines, WestJet, and Transat.

There are a number of hotels located near the airport, these include the Travelodge by Wyndham Victoria Airport, which is just 5 minutes from the terminals. It is also close to some many local attractions including The Butchart Gardens. Another nearby hotel is the Best Western Plus Emerald Isle Hotel.
Alternate airports to the Victoria International Airport include the Vancouver International Airport, located in Vancouver, which is roughly a three-hour bus ride away. Guests can also choose to arrive at the Nanaimo Harbour Water Aerodrome, which is closer to Victoria.
